The Story [이야기] :

• Originally, the character is a picture of a bag tied at both ends.   However, we can also view the character as the sun 日 hiding behind a tree 木.  Accordingly, there is a story that says that when one man looked eastward to find a character for "east", he saw the sun rising behind a big tree.  Hence the character for "east" was created.
